# Export, import and reset settings

> Back up your AjaxPress settings, copy them to another site, or put everything back to the defaults. (Pro)

The **Tools** section at the bottom of **Settings → AjaxPress → Advanced** has three buttons: **Export**, **Import** and **Reset**. They need [AjaxPress Pro](https://arraystory.com/docs/ajaxpress/ajaxpress-pro/).

## What's included

All of your AjaxPress settings: the Basic, Advanced and Animations tabs, and the **Pages to never cache** list on the Cache tab.

Not included:

- your license key, which is activated per site;
- your Cloudflare connection, which belongs to one site and one Cloudflare account.

## Export

Click **Export**. Your browser downloads a file named after your AjaxPress version, such as `ajaxpress-2.4.3.json`.

Export before you make big changes, before a reset, or whenever your setup is how you like it. The file is small and plain text, so it's easy to keep with your site's other backups.

## Import

1. Click **Import**, and choose a file exported from AjaxPress.
2. Confirm **Yes, import**. The file's settings replace your current ones and are saved straight away.

AjaxPress only accepts files it exported itself. Any other file shows **Invalid JSON File!** and changes nothing.

Use this to copy one site's setup to another, for example from staging to live, or across client sites. Both sites need AjaxPress Pro.

> [!TIP]
> Importing on a new site? Afterwards, check anything that refers to that site's own pages: **Exclude Links**, **Media Players** selectors, and **Pages to never cache**.

## Reset to defaults

Click **Reset**. AjaxPress asks twice, because it can't be undone: every setting goes back to its default, and the change is saved at once.

Resetting doesn't touch your license, and it doesn't disconnect Cloudflare. It does empty the **Pages to never cache** list, so export first if you might want your settings back.

The defaults are listed in the [settings reference](https://arraystory.com/docs/ajaxpress/settings-reference/).
