## The license won't activate

| Message or symptom | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| "The license key you entered is invalid" | Copy the key again from your purchase email or [your account](https://arraystory.com/account/), without spaces before or after it |
| No activations left | Deactivate the license on a site you no longer use, or upgrade your plan. See [Manage your license](https://arraystory.com/docs/ajaxpress/manage-your-license/#move-to-another-site-or-domain) |
| "Please check your internet connection" | Your server couldn't reach our licensing service. See below |
| "Your license is invalid or has been deactivated" | The key was deactivated, refunded or has expired. Check its status in your account |

### Your server can't reach the licensing service

Activation is a request from your server to `api.packedge.dev`. If it fails:

- a security plugin or firewall may block outgoing requests from WordPress;
- your host may block outgoing connections (some do on staging or free plans);
- the server's SSL certificates may be out of date, which your host can fix.

Ask your host to allow outgoing HTTPS requests to `api.packedge.dev`.

## Pro settings are still locked

Check, in order:

1. **AjaxPress Pro is installed and active**, under **Plugins**. From AjaxPress 2.4.4, the license alone isn't enough. See [Moving to the AjaxPress Pro plugin](https://arraystory.com/docs/ajaxpress/moving-to-the-ajaxpress-pro-plugin/).
2. **The License tab says Active.**
3. **Reload the settings screen**, and clear your browser cache if needed.

## No update is offered for AjaxPress Pro

- Check that the license is **Active** and hasn't **expired** (License tab → **Expires**). Updates need an active, unexpired license.
- WordPress checks for updates twice a day. To check now, go to **Dashboard → Updates** and click **Check again**.
- If your server can't reach `api.packedge.dev`, it can't see updates either (see above).

## Updated AjaxPress, and Pro features stopped working

You're on AjaxPress 2.4.4 or later without the AjaxPress Pro plugin. Install and activate it: [Moving to the AjaxPress Pro plugin](https://arraystory.com/docs/ajaxpress/moving-to-the-ajaxpress-pro-plugin/). Your settings were kept, and come back straight away.
