Connect Cloudflare and deploy the cache

On this page

Setting up Super Cache takes a couple of minutes: approve AjaxPress in your Cloudflare account, then deploy. There’s no API token to create or copy.

Before you start, check what you need: AjaxPress Pro, your domain on Cloudflare with its DNS record proxied, and a Cloudflare account that can run Workers.

1. Connect your account

  1. Go to Settings → AjaxPress → Cache.
  2. Click Connect with Cloudflare.
  3. Cloudflare opens. Sign in if you need to, choose the account that holds your domain, and approve AjaxPress.
  4. You’re sent back to the Cache tab.

AjaxPress then looks for the Cloudflare zone that matches your site’s domain. When it finds it, you’ll see Connected to your Cloudflare account. Matching zone found for this site, with the route the cache will use, such as example.com/*.

2. Deploy

Click Deploy Cache. AjaxPress installs a small Cloudflare Worker on your zone and routes your site through it. It takes a few seconds.

When it’s done, the Cache tab shows the status panel. Pages are cached as visitors request them, and AjaxPress also starts caching all your pages in the background, the most important ones first.

3. Check it’s working

  1. Open a page of your site in a private window, and reload it once.
  2. On the Cache tab, click Check cache health. It requests your home page and a few recent posts and pages, and reports how many came from Cloudflare’s cache (HIT) and how many from your server (MISS).

A page is a MISS the first time it’s requested, then a HIT. A few MISSes on a fresh cache are normal. Browse a little, then check again.

If your domain isn’t found

“Your site domain is not found in your Cloudflare account” means the account you approved doesn’t manage this domain. Check that:

  • you approved the Cloudflare account that holds the domain (if you have several);
  • the domain is active in that account, not pending nameserver changes;
  • your site’s address in Settings → General matches the domain in Cloudflare, including www or not.

Fix it, then click Check for zones again.

Where your credentials go

The one-click connection passes through a small authorization relay we run on Cloudflare (ajaxpress-oauth.astory.workers.dev), so that no secret key has to ship inside the plugin. The relay exchanges Cloudflare’s one-time code for an access token and hands it straight to your site, which stores it encrypted in your database. From then on, AjaxPress talks to the Cloudflare API directly from your server. See Privacy and data.
