Load the front end normally for admins
On this page
Load Frontend Normally for Admins turns AjaxPress off for you, and only for you. While you’re logged in as an administrator, your site’s front end loads the ordinary way. Every visitor, and every other logged-in user, still gets instant navigation.
It’s under Settings โ AjaxPress โ Basic, it’s free, and it’s off by default.
When it’s useful
- Building or editing pages. Some front-end editing tools, admin bar menus and debugging plugins behave best on a normal page load.
- Debugging. Compare your site with and without AjaxPress in the same browser: toggle this setting instead of deactivating the plugin for everyone.
- Checking your analytics setup, when your own visits shouldn’t go through AjaxPress.
Who counts as an admin
Anyone who can manage the site’s settings: the Administrator role, and on a multisite network, each site’s administrators and super admins. Editors, authors, shop managers and customers still get AjaxPress.
Testing what visitors see
With this setting on, you won’t see AjaxPress while you’re logged in, which is the point. To check how your site behaves for visitors, open it in a private or incognito window, or log out.
This is the most common reason for “AjaxPress doesn’t seem to do anything” after installing. If you turned it on, test in a private window.
What it doesn’t change
- Visitors, and logged-in users who aren’t administrators, see no difference.
- Crawlers always get plain pages anyway. See What AjaxPress does.
- wp-admin isn’t affected. For instant navigation inside the dashboard, see Instant navigation in wp-admin.
